Recently, I had the opportunity to work with Hot Aches Productions on a 2 week shoot based in the Peak District and North Wales.
Hot Aches are working on a number of things at the moment, one of which is a film due to come out in 2012 called Wide Boyz. This film features Tom Randal and Pete Whitaker, and their obsession with cracks. (see the Hot Aches blog for more details here). Those boys can’t get enough cracks… Ok, enough innuendo! But they are both totally obsessed with crack climbing – if you don’t already, check out the Wide Boyz blog to see how it all started
The shoot started with a few days in the Peak, seeking out what the Grit had to offer in terms of hard offwidth cracks (non-climbers – an offwidth crack is a crack in the rock too large to jam two fists in, yet too small to climb up like a chimney.. still lost? check this page http://www.widefetish.com/ - THIS IS A SAFE LINK, HONEST…).
My role on this shoot was a camera operator and it was a really great opportunity for me to gain some experience on the kind of job I hope to work on in the future. Thanks Paul!
The objective of the few weeks was of course, to get some footage for the Wide Boyz film. Hot Aches were also asked by Tom and Pete’s sponsers, Wild Country, to shoot an advert for the new Helium Friends. They have recently gone on sale and, as I am a bit behind with this blog, Diff has already put the advert together!
Wild Country Helium Friends are the latest generation of Friends and are the direct descendents of the first ever camming devices first made by Wild Country in 1977.
